Completely remodeled from 2021 - 2024, this 22,000 square feet historical building is centered in the heart of downtown Leitchfield. Our location makes it walkable to boutiques, food, entertainment, the Storehouse Coffee, the Spa on Main & the Historic Jack Thomas House. In 1935, this building housed a restaurant, The Alice Theatre and a 23-room hotel called The Alexander Hotel. Today, this building is still home to The Alexander Hotel, which is now 7 short term rentals, The Alice Theatre which is now an event venue where you can enjoy live entertainment, old movies or rent the space for a special day or event of your own. The old restaurant has been revitalized and is now called Steak & Stone. Each Airbnb has been meticulously curated and designed. Our space is unique in that you can rent a suite or two or our entire 2nd floor which contains 7 suites total: The Aaron (2 bed / 2 bath), The Ashton (1 bed / 1 bath), The Jackson (Studio / 1 bed / 1 bath / + Sofa Sleeper), The Haleigh (1 bed / 1 bath), The McKinzie (2 bed / 2 bath), The Chassedi (Studio / 1 bed / 1 bath), The Eleanor (2 bed / 2 bath). NOTE: Our suites are located on the 2nd floor with approximately 25 steps. Due to the historic nature and location of our building, elevators are not available. During your stay, you will have access to our local parks, lakes, kayaking, Leitchfield softball and baseball complex, pickleball courts, grocery stores & our revitalized town square. The Alexander Hotel is the prime location for East Main Market nights and the annual Twin Lakes Fiddling Festival. We are nestled between Rough River & Nolin Lake & only minutes from the Leitchfield Aquatic Center, Industrial Park & Owensboro Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. We are 30 minutes from The Bluegrass Sportsplex, Sky's the Limit Trampoline Park, numerous golf courses including: Shady Hollow, Lafeyette, Vine Grove, Elizabethtown Country Club & Heartland Golf Course. We are also less than an hour from Mammoth Cave National Park, The Bowling Green Corvette Museum, Churchill Downs, and the Bourbon Capital of the World, Bardstown. We are 2 minutes away from the Western Ky Pkwy and 30 minutes away from I-65. If small town with big city vibes sounds like a good time, then we are the right place for you. The McKinzie offers a roomy main living area, fully equipped kitchen, 3 smart TVs, 2 King plush and comfy beds, 2 sleeper chairs, 2 full bathrooms that include floor to ceiling tiled showers, modern appliances and it is our biggest unit coming in at 1550 square feet.

Welcome to The McKinzie. In 2021, my husband and I poured our life savings in renovating this amazing historic building. This has been a labor of love for our whole family and our friends.
